  • Quiet Together Moments

This photo of the couple sharing a quiet together moment resonated with me today. The craze of the pre-holiday rush is very similar to the wedding day rush.

One of the most heard pieces of advice I hear (and give myself) to couples on their wedding day is to really be present and enjoy every moment of the day. Time can fly if you don’t soak in every morsel of sensation, and there are a lot during your wedding day.

While your wedding day schedule might not allow, try to get away with your partner even for 2 minutes for a bear hug, or as seen above, to contemplate a painting, because it truly is a monumental day for the two of you, and you really need to set an intention of observation or the day will sweep you away.

This past May I worked with a group of very talented wedding vendors to create a styled wedding shoot in the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts (PAFA). PAFA has two buildings next to each other that can be rented for a ceremony and reception. The beautiful thing about these two buildings is that they are so uniquely different. The first buildings, the Historic Landmark Building, where we held the mock ceremony, is incredibly detailed, ornate, historic and warm with many brass details. The second building, the Samuel M.V. Hamilton Building, where we held the reception, is more modern with large windows and clean white sweeping walls. The juxtaposition of the old and the new within the buildings is very fitting for the old and new buildings that tower outside the windows of the Philadelphia skyline.

This week, I will be sharing with you photos from the shoot, beautifully taken by Asya Photography, coordinated by Truly You Events, with flowers by Beautiful Blooms and the wedding gown by Lovely Bride…along with many other vendors I will mention throughout the week. This first set of photos were taken in the Historic Landmark Building, pre-ceremony, where the first glimpse takes place.

I really hope you enjoy all of the beautiful, unique gallery wedding inspiration!

Note: If you like the look of this wedding, be sure to check out the Gallery Paint Brushed Invitation by Hand-Painted Weddings which was inspired and created for this shoot.

  • Hand-Painted Weddings at Lovesick Expo – Third Year in Row!

Lovesick Expo - Hand-Painted Weddings will be there!

I am super stoked to be amongst the coolest wedding talent in Philly at the Lovesick Expo on January 11 at World Cafe Live. Hand-Painted Weddings has been chosen as one of the featured vendors for three years in a row, and we are so honored! The Lovesick Expo is not only the most fun wedding show you will ever attend, but it is bursting at the seams with talent, creativity and unique ideas. It truly is unlike any other wedding show you will go to—there are burlesque dancers (enough said), live music, drinking, and an overall acceptance of unique wedding choices.

I love being a part of this expo because it introduces me to couples who are truly looking to make their wedding personal and unique. There are a lot of indie wedding couples and couples looking for alternative options. I also love that this expo is very consciously accepting to all sorts of couples not matter if it is same sex or not, and it has been even before same sex marriage became legal in PA this past May.

Still not convinced? Then check out the Lovesick video featuring footage from last year’s event here. Trust me—you won’t want to miss this event!
