    Mini Vacation at the Lodge

    Last night my husband I returned home after a long weekend amongst the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains in West Virginia. We stayed in a lodge with 18 very unique and intelligent people as a 30th birthday celebration for one of Carl’s best friends. We played games (I was impressed by how many people on the trip adored Settlers of Catan), watched the meteor shower, and made some delicious food! I even got in a little bit of painting, but I’ll save that for a later post. No one had cell phone service or internet access at the lodge so it really allowed everyone to decompress. All in all, it was a very relaxing and fun mini vacation!

    The most enchanting way to incorporate the Harry Potter floating candles theme into your wedding is to find a vendor who will produce this magnificent display for you. I would recommend not using real candles though…don’t want wax dripping on your guests heads.

    My husband, Carl, proposed to me with a book, so I certainly have a soft spot for this idea….putting the ring in a Harry Potter book! I love how this person specifically chose the chapter “The Unbreakable Vow” as the reveal with the ring!

    If you have resources and live near Maryland consider hiring Charm City Cakes to make a smaller version of their Hogwarts Castle cake that was featured on Ace of Cakes.

    This is an example of an escort card that I designed for a Harry Potter themed wedding. The Sorting Hat seemed like the appropriate painting for this one because it is sorting guests to their table numbers.
