I love terrariums. My mom makes them, so I grew up with one in the house. When I was young, I imagined that there was a little world in the terrarium, because she would add little creature sculptures amongst the plants. It is pretty amazing that the plants can prosper in this mini biosphere. This past Christmas my mom surprised me with my very own terrarium. It has a very prominent home within our apartment.

Lately, I have been seeing a lot of terrariums that are open, instead of being closed off. While I find these open terrariums a little less amazing, I still adore them. Just check out this terrarium I painted above! It is like a terrarium meets a Christmas ornament, so how could I not love it!! How lovely it would be to hang these in the windows!

Yesterday evening while I was painting I looked out my window and saw this beautiful sight! This is one of those quick moments after the sun has set where there is a little bit of pink reflection in the clouds on the opposite direction of the sunset. The moon is nearly full (the full moon is tomorrow night).

Do you believe in the effects of a full moon? In the Ashtanga yoga tradition (an ancient form of daily yoga) they do not practice on full or new moons because the gravitational pull is at its strongest and can put a person out of balance. You may know that the moon effects the tides. The moon can also affect our bodies because our bodies are 60% water. This can be impossible to identify if you are not being mindful of it, but I know that I feel it. My body simply feels off balance. See if you notice a change as we are leading into the full moon tomorrow night.
