Made my Day

  • Camping Weekend

This weekend my husband and I, along with two other couples, fled the city and went camping at Ricketts Glen State Park in the Poconos. It was really nice to take a break from the computer and be surrounded by the simplicity and wonder of the woods. Ricketts Glen boasts 22 waterfalls! Above you will see some of my favorite photos from the trip.

We were also happily surprised to find out that the leaves had already started to change up in the Pocono Mountains! Can you believe it….it is already October!? I have a busy month ahead of myself but my goal is to enjoy every second of October. It is such a gorgeous month and I don’t want it to slip me by without enjoying every moment of its magic.

  • Made My Day: Red wild flowers

    Painting by Hand-Painted Weddings.

Over the weekend, I went to a different farmer’s market than I usually visit on the weekends since I was going to the Renaissance Faire during my usual farmer’s market time. Side note: The Renaissance Faire is so fun! I totally recommend visiting one if you get the chance. We went to the Renaissance Faire in Lancaster, PA, which is connected to a winery….yum! We even dressed up in Renaissance attire this year. You should have seen the looks we got when we stopped at a rest stop along the way for Starbucks!

Anyways, back to the farmer’s market…there was a lovely vendor selling bouquets of wild flowers mixed with sunflowers and zinnias. The bouquets looked so cheerful, I had to have one. Unfortunately, the bouquet didn’t last long but I was able to get a painting of these small red flowers I had never seen before as the leaves started to wilt. I am loving how this painting resembles botanical watercolors in it composition.

  • Nostalgic for Italy

    Painting by Hand-Painted Weddings.

My husband is going on a weeklong trip to Rome next week with his MBA class, and it has me nostalgic for my last trip to Italy. This is a painting I did of the view at the edge of the island of Burano in Venice. This painting is very different from the first Burano painting I featured on this blog here, and can be purchased here.

If you walk through the streets of Burano you will be welcomed by colorful buildings and beautiful canals, but if you go to the edge, your view is serene and calming. It is just remarkable!
