There are a few Philadelphia wedding landmarks that you will always see bridal parties taking photos at during the wedding season weekends. We are so lucky in Philly to have so many hotspots for perfect Philly wedding photos! In the middle of Broad Street with City Hall in the background is a must! It is so much fun seeing the cars swoosh by the happy couple. Just up the street is LOVE park, which is the inspiration for the design of the Love Park wedding invitation and the ice sculpture, and offers a fantastic wedding shot. There are also a few parks throughout the city that are wonderful ways to get some nature into the set of mostly urban photos, such as Rittenhouse Square and Washington Square. Amanda and Derek, along with Campli Photography, did a beautiful job capturing a few of these Philly wedding landmarks.

Here is day two of Amanda and Derek’s Philly wedding. See day 1 here. Here is one final question for the bride on her choose of Philly Love Park wedding invitations.

Allison: How did your wedding invitations tie into your wedding?

Amanda: The “LOVE theme” tied it all together. City of brotherly love and two people in love getting married. We made sure we took pictures at Love park.

It is so nice to add little signs to help your guests navigate your wedding. I also worked with her to design her thank you cards to her wedding party as well as to her wedding day letter to her husband (so sweet). I also worked with her on escort cards (AKA table name cards). The wedding day signs were all inspired by the pink bridesmaid gowns as well as the other colors in the florals at the wedding.

And let’s end with a super fun dance floor photo because it is Friday! Have a wonderful weekend friends!

Today I’m sharing Amanda and Derek’s stunning Philadelphia LOVE wedding that took place downtown this past June. From their LOVE statue themed wedding invitations to their horse drawn carriage through the city, this wedding is chockfull of Philadelphia iconography. Amanda and Derek got married at St. Paul’s Parish in the Italian market and took a horse drawn carriage through the city to the Ballroom at the Ben for their wedding reception.

I worked with Amanda on her LOVE statue themed wedding invitations, which were our shop Love Park invitations with a map and folder enclosure add-on. I also worked with her on escort cards, thank you cards for her wedding party, and dancing shoes and guestbook signs (more on that in tomorrow’s post). It is so much fun working on the various pieces of the wedding because the bride and I build a relationship through the wedding planning process. Below I have asked Amanda a couple of questions to help inspire future Philly wedding couples.

Allison: What was your favorite detail at your wedding?
Amanda: Definitely my dress, cake, our matching Christian Louboutin shoes and the character of the Ballroom at the Ben.

Allison: Favorite moment at your wedding?

Amanda: Ah there are many!  First seeing each other in the church, leaving in the horse and carriage ride. People in the city were congratulating us, beeping/waving and telling me how beautiful I looked – I felt like a princess.

  • Unique Wedding Ceremony Idea – The Unity Cocktail

I’ve said it many times…I love when couples infuse their wedding with their unique personalities! When I was perusing Shannon and Bryan’s wedding photos I noticed a couple of photos of them with a shot and beer glass in their hand during their ceremony. Well, that isn’t something you see every day, so I inquired with Shannon…

Question: You had beer during your ceremony! What is the story behind that?

Shannon: We had a unity cocktail! We wrote the ceremony ourselves, and we really wanted our personalities to shine through. Other couples opt to light a unity candle, or combine sand, or some other variation on the unity theme. Well, anyone who knows us knows that Bryan loves beer, and I love whisky. And what goes better together than beer and whisky! So we combined the two in a unity cocktail, and I dropped my shot of whisky into Bryan’s glass of stout. We each then took a sip. (It was a huge hit with the guests!)

Thank you Shannon and Bryan for letting me feature your wedding on the blog this week. Readers, I hope you glean some unique wedding inspiration for your upcoming nuptials! Remember, have fun at your wedding. Do something rarely seen, like having a unity cocktail during your ceremony. You and your guests are sure to remember these distinctively personal touches fondly for many years to come!
