  • In the Studio: Hand-Painted Ikat Invitation

Hand-Painted Ikat Invitation by Hand-Painted Weddings

Who doesn’t like this beautiful, loose ikat pattern that has been making appearances in apparel trends the last year or so? The ikat pattern derives from an old, traditional form of textile dyeing. You can read all about the history here.

I have taken a soft, feminine approach to this often colorful pattern, by using a warm pink, gray, and muted jade color palette. I love the imperfect nature of the watercolor approach seen in this pattern; it is imperfectly perfect if you ask me!

The Ikat Invitation is now available in the Hand-Painted Wedding shop under Shop Invitations. Stop back later in the week for some Hand-Painted Ikat reception ideas to coordinate with your invitation.

  • Wedding Invitations and Fashion Styling

Wedding Invites Fashion Styling by Hand-Painted Weddings

Last week’s invitation styling inspired (what I believe to be) a very interesting new way to photograph the Hand-Painted Weddings Shop Invitations. The idea is too connect fashion and invitation by styling the photographs with myself holding an Invitation in front of outfits that relate in design. This is a beautiful extension to the very human element of watercolors, by having a person holding the invitation.

What sets Hand-Painted Weddings apart is the very human element that watercolor brings to your wedding. It isn’t digitized, just as the wedding that follows the invitation isn’t digitized or cookie cutter. A Hand-Painted Wedding is unique, human, and, of course, hand-painted.

  • Hand-Painted Romantic Lace Invitation

Romantic Lace Invitation by Hand-Painted Weddings

Do you feel the romance in the air? The day before Valentine’s Day always brings a little bit of excitement as couples prepare for the next day’s excursions. This year my husband is planning a surprise night, so I am particularly curious and excited about what that could mean!

Inspired by the romance this time of year brings, I designed a VERY romantic wedding invitation with a pink and red watercolor wash background, an overlay of white lace and wistful script text….oh yes, and a heart graphic adorning the text.

The heart graphic may be too gushy for you, so this detail can be omitted if you choose to order the Romantic Lace Invitation. A little background on the heart graphic….it has a great texture that reminds me of two thumbprints making a shape of a heart. It was fun watching couples sign the Cobblestone Thumbprint Guestbook at the Lovesick Expo, because the majority of the couples signed their thumbprints next to each other like a heart.

The Romantic Lace Invitation is now available to order in the Signature Invitations shop.
