Posted on Hand-Painted Weddings. Photo by Katie RicardThere was just too many dreamy wedding details in this styled shoot to fit into one blog post, so today I’m featuring more of the wedding accessories such as the stunning lace BHLDN wedding dress, the beautiful ring from Trumpet and Horn and bridal jewelry from BHLDN, the boho floral crowns by Emlily Floral, and of course, the watercolor wedding invitation set by yours truly. By the way, the Mystical Forest watercolor wedding invitation is available in the Hand-Painted Weddings Shop.

I was lucky enough to join my friend at a BHLDN dress appointment in NYC last summer, and let me just say… I’ve never seen such beautiful laces and unique, delicate touches. Every dress was a work of art. BHLDN is truly inspiring to the wedding market.

I’m in love with the lush flowers in the bride’s bouquet….oh, if I were to get married again, I’d have a bouquet just like this.

I’m also swooning of the casual, wispy wedding hair the bride and bridesmaid have with their floral crowns. It is so delicate and effortlessly beautiful. The color of blue in the bridesmaid dress is perfection. It has a hint of earthiness to it, while still be classically blue, which is apparently the most popular color for bridesmaid dresses in the U.S.

I’m still in awe that I was able to contribute to this dreamy wedding in California. I hope it was as inspiring for you as it has been for me!

A dreamy wedding styled shoot which came together in such a magical way. I responded to a request for a wedding stationer on one of the creative entrepreneur Facebook groups I’m on, and was chosen to be a part of this amazing group of vendors organizing a styled shoot in the Oak Forest in California. The wedding shoot took place amongst the most gorgeous, mystical trees with Spanish moss hanging from them. The Spanish moss and the weaving trees were the inspiration for the mystical wedding invitation set I painted and designed. The Mystical Forest wedding invitation is now available in the Hand-Painted Weddings Shop.

The wedding inspiration is full of dreamy light photography featuring ethereal, boho crowns, whimsical flower arrangements full of texture, gold brushed french macarons, and a textured buttercream cake with beloved cake topper. These elements all come together as an effortless, lovely, and nature-inspired wedding look.

Tomorrow I will be sharing more dreamy wedding inspiration focused more on ethereal wedding fashion details.

  • Alice in Wonderland Wedding featured on ModWedding

Alice in Wonderland Wedding featured on ModWedding

So happy that the wedding blog, ModWedding is featuring the Alice in Wonderland wedding styled shoot Hand-Painted Weddings collaborated with a lot of talented, creative vendors in Chicago on earlier this spring. As the article says, this wedding features “enchanting florals, from oversized peony blossoms to layers of moss, were complimented by other natural pieces, such as handcrafted wooden furniture and a naked cake.” These design elements worked really well with the whimsical watercolor designs I did for the wedding day paper and invitation (available in the invitation shop).

I’m super excited to be currently working with a client who is doing a high tea for her wedding and is using this styled shoot as inspiration. This warms my heart because this is the goal of styled shoots….to inspire future engaged couples with ideas they’ve never seen before.

I also love that I was able to collaborate with this styled shoot from afar…this style shoot took place in Chicago. I love these collaborations so much that I’m creating unique artwork for one in California in December and one locally in Philadelphia on Black Friday, so stay tuned on Instagram for behind the scenes glimpses of this unique, creative work.

  • Alice in Wonderland Wedding Featured on Ruffled Blog

Alice in Wonderland Wedding on Ruffled BlogOn Monday I announced on social media that the Alice in Wonderland styled shoot I created paper for was featured on Ruffled blog! Styled shoots are a lot of fun because they give wedding vendors and artists a chance to express their creativity and go crazy with ideas for the sake of inspiring engaged couples. By using creativity with no limitations, a styled shoot has the power to open up new ideas that might connect with couples getting married – it is pretty powerful!

Styled shoots are also a great way to meet new vendor friends. In the case of this styled shoot, I worked remotely with vendors in Chicago. One of the things I love that within my career I can collaborate with people all over the country, even the world!

This styled shoot is chockfull of colorful, whimsical wedding inspiration, that you should definitely check out. Above is just a snippet of the post, so click here to see the full post.

Check out this creative idea—have a decorate your own painted cookie station! It is the perfect touch for a gallery wedding to get the guests involved in a very unique way. The cookies can be part of the dessert or it can be the favors, with bags on the side to bring home. It is such an easy way to bring a playful, artistic element to your wedding.

I gleefully worked on this project with the very talented Zoe from Whipped Bakeshop. It was so much fun working together to create these wild pink and purple brushstrokes in each of our appropriate mediums—mine paper and hers dessert. The cake is unbelievably beautiful with its light brushstrokes on the top and the touch of gold foil around the layers.

I do hope you enjoyed Gallery Wedding week and are inspired to bring a hand-painted touch to your wedding, whether at a gallery or if you are an artist looking to incorporate your art into your wedding! If you missed it, be sure to check out the other posts this week: Truly a Painterly Touch, Two Wedding Locations—Two Outfits, Quiet Moments Together, and a Gallery Ceremony.

Paper by Hand-Painted Weddings. You are in for a treat today! Today’s post starts to highlight some of the Hand-Painted Weddings stationery by yours truly! I had so much fun with designing this paper because a truly painterly touch was the perfect detail to bring together a modern art gallery wedding. I used long, loose brush strokes combined with graceful calligraphy in the paper.

As you can see in photo 3 as well as in the Gallery Paint Brushed Invitation in the Hand-Painted Weddings shop, the design kept true to the idea of old and new with the unique change in venue from ceremony to reception. The invitation for the ceremony, which was held in the ornate, historical PAFA building used some of the fine geometric details from the interior of the building. While the reception card, RSVP, and reception signs and escort cards were modern, wild and fun in appearance. This is also very fitting for the more daring short dress the bride is wearing at the reception.

One of my favorite touches are the escort card easel signs (bride and groom shown in photo 1). I love how fitting they are for the gallery theme, and how they look set up in front of each dinner plate. Sprinkling paint brushes is also a nice touch to bring together the painterly theme. The flower arrangements and the bouquets by Beautiful Blooms coordinate so well with this wedding and are truly gorgeous. There were even edible flowers in the entrée.

Another fun touch that I have created for some lucky couples is a signature drink card. I’ve seen some sad Word doc signature drink card signs at wedding bars and it really is a missed opportunity. Having a signature drink at your wedding is adding a little piece of attention, fun, and personality for your guests…why not make the sign they are going to read at the bar express that personality?

I hope you are enjoying Gallery Wedding week! I know I am!

  • Two Wedding Locations, Two Outfits

Gallery Wedding. Photos by Asya Photography. Coordinated by Truly You Events. Paper by Hand-Painted WeddingsA creative way to change up the wedding look is to have a different gown for the ceremony and the reception. Especially with so many cute short wedding dresses, I understand the desire to have two gowns!

Since both of the wedding buildings for this photoshoot had very different looks, two attire looks was a great idea to separate the two celebrations. As I wrote on Monday, the Historic Landmark Building at the Pennsylvania of Fine Arts is ornate, historic and warm with many brass details while the Samuel M.V. Hamilton Building is modern with large windows and clean white sweeping walls.

While I know that two gowns might not be in your budget, it does add a really fun element to your wedding. Imagine entering your reception with this sweet short dress just in time to break out the moves on the dance floor!

  • Quiet Together Moments

PAFA Styled Gallery Wedding. Photos by Asya Photography. Coordinated by Truly You Events. Paper by Hand-Painted Weddings. This photo of the couple sharing a quiet together moment resonated with me today. The craze of the pre-holiday rush is very similar to the wedding day rush.

One of the most heard pieces of advice I hear (and give myself) to couples on their wedding day is to really be present and enjoy every moment of the day. Time can fly if you don’t soak in every morsel of sensation, and there are a lot during your wedding day.

While your wedding day schedule might not allow, try to get away with your partner even for 2 minutes for a bear hug, or as seen above, to contemplate a painting, because it truly is a monumental day for the two of you, and you really need to set an intention of observation or the day will sweep you away.

Paper by Hand-Painted Weddings. This past May I worked with a group of very talented wedding vendors to create a styled wedding shoot in the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts (PAFA). PAFA has two buildings next to each other that can be rented for a ceremony and reception. The beautiful thing about these two buildings is that they are so uniquely different. The first buildings, the Historic Landmark Building, where we held the mock ceremony, is incredibly detailed, ornate, historic and warm with many brass details. The second building, the Samuel M.V. Hamilton Building, where we held the reception, is more modern with large windows and clean white sweeping walls. The juxtaposition of the old and the new within the buildings is very fitting for the old and new buildings that tower outside the windows of the Philadelphia skyline.

This week, I will be sharing with you photos from the shoot, beautifully taken by Asya Photography, coordinated by Truly You Events, with flowers by Beautiful Blooms and the wedding gown by Lovely Bride…along with many other vendors I will mention throughout the week. This first set of photos were taken in the Historic Landmark Building, pre-ceremony, where the first glimpse takes place.

I really hope you enjoy all of the beautiful, unique gallery wedding inspiration!

What better way to celebrate the Fourth of July than to have a wedding! Well, a couple of months back I was lucky enough to be involved in Styled Shoot that was themed around the Fourth of July in the most appropriate place, the Independence Visitor Center in Philadelphia. The venue is right across the street from the Constitution Center and the Liberty Bell!

I am so excited to announce that this shoot was featured on 100 Layer Cake, wedding blog extraordinaire! It is such an honor to be on 100 Layer Cake. I remember when I first heard about 100 Layer Cake; I was on the original mailing list announcing its launch.

This photoshoot was a lot of fun. It gave me the opportunity to design all of the paper elements of a wedding from invitations to table numbers to escort cards to menus to dessert table signs and signature drink signs. The fun challenge about working with a couple on all the paper elements of a wedding is that the graphics become part of a more robust theme which grows and develops throughout the varying pieces. For instance, the red and blue color palette as well as the font choices in these pieces are consistent but the graphics vary from windy ribbons, to straight, uneven ribbons to cherries and stars and sparklers.

I was so lucky to get the opportunity to work with some wonderful, talented, local wedding vendors on this shoot. I recommend all of them! All of there information is below.

    Happy Fourth of July!

Today is part 2 of the Cinderella inspired wedding which features the lovely, soft details of the table decor. To see part 1, click here. I love the textures that appear in this table styling created by Krista Leigh Hurst Photography. The delicate beaded table cloth overlay and the baby’s breath are a perfect match for the hand-painted ivy border in the menu and table number design. Please note that I did take the liberty of putting the sweet pumpkin carriage on the corner of the menus to add a bit of whimsy, but that element can be omitted if a bride is interested in a more subtle fairytale theme.

The Cinderella table looks stunning in an outdoor setting, but I also think this theme would look gorgeous in an old mansion, castle, or gothic-styled reception site. Themed weddings are so unique and fun. I love how the Cinderella inspired theme is filled with whimsy and translates so appropriately with the ethereal magic of weddings.

    Have a magical weekend!

The chance to work with other talent on a purely creative photo shoot is one of the reasons I love this industry. There is such a beautiful sense of camaraderie in working together to create art. The different styles and viewpoints each artist brings together truly create a masterpiece.

I provided the invitation, menu, table number and escort cards. Today’s post features the overall whimsical aesthetic of this shoot, along with some of the beautiful Cinderella themed details Krista came up with, such as the white pumpkin, the paper crown, the spool of thread, and of course, this gorgeous pale blue gown. I love how all of the light blues come together into this dreamy masterpiece.
