  • In the Studio: Hand-Painted Baby Shower Invitation

Musical Monkey Baby Shower Card by Hand-Painted Weddings

One thing I treasure the most about being an artist is being able to provide a custom invitation for a loved one. This particular invitation is for my sister-in-law’s baby shower. It is a surprise shower (shh, don’t tell) so I am working with my mother-in-law on the invitation. The invitation is based on the theme of the items she registered for. This is a totally appropriate theme for them, because my sister-in-law is quite the musician. She sang at our wedding, and it was such a beautiful addition to our ceremony.

She is expecting a baby boy, who will be named Jordan Tyler, at the end of September. I have had many friends who have had children lately but this is the first baby in my husband’s and my immediate family, so I am going to be an Aunt! Crazy!

If you are interested in working with me on custom baby shower invitations, please inquire here.

  • Hello Summer

Hello Summer by Hand-Painted Weddings Hello Summer by Hand-Painted Weddings Hello Summer by Hand-Painted Weddings Hello Summer by Hand-Painted Weddings Hello Summer by Hand-Painted Weddings Hello Summer by Hand-Painted Weddings

Flowers are blooming. Insects are busy at work. Days are beautifully long. Mountains of fresh lettuces and fruits are sold at the markets. Summer is upon us.

Summer is a beautiful season. My goal for the summer is to not fill it. Often I feel that people stuff their summers to the brim and then miss the simplicities that come with the season. So lets all take the opportunity to “Lay in the sun and count every beautiful thing we can see” …because there is so much beauty to be seen.

I listen to a series of guided meditations on my phone from time to time to get centered. Most of them guide me to picture myself in a calm, relaxed location. I usually find peace in the woods. I find myself drawn to the trees and the mountains with leaves crutching under my feet, or sitting on a sweeping porch of a cabin watching the sunrise.

But lately, I have found that when asked to go to my place of peace, I have picked the beach instead of the woods. I hear the clapping of soft waves and the vast sky above with sand in between my toes.

I haven’t made it to the beach yet this season, but I’m ready! Today and tomorrow I am sharing with you TWO beach-themed thumbprint guest prints.

Today’s thumbprint guestbook features this beautiful lighthouse and a row of detailed rocks. If you zoom in you will see a fun old-fashioned plane and an egret (the bird) perched on one of the rocks in the foreground.

The thumbprints that your guests add to this guestbook can act as cobblestones or if you choose a tan or silvery ink pad, they can act as footprints in the sand. Both are beautiful! This would be a great addition to your beach-themed wedding!

The Lighthouse Thumbprint Guestbook is available in the Hand-Painted Weddings Thumbprint Guestbook shop.
