Butterflies can easily be incorporated into almost every details of your wedding, or it can just be an accent scattered amongst a few wedding details. They are very versatile and easy to shop for on Etsy. A lot of inspiration on the web for butterfly weddings conjures up a bit of a children’s birthday party look, so be careful when styling your wedding with butterflies.

From my research, it looks like there are two strong directions you can go with your butterfly wedding. You can either go with the DIY look and have brightly colored, whimsical, hand cut paper butterflies as seen in the top image (above).

The second direction is to go realistic with your butterfly accents and go with earth toned or bright colored butterflies. I always think about butterflies as a summer detail, but was happy to find some really beautiful fall inspiration with accents of butterflies. The warm coloring of many butterflies lends itself to a fall wedding color palette.

  • Butterfly Wedding Invitation

Butterfly Wedding Invitation by Hand-Painted Weddings

It is so exciting to be building up this year’s collection of Hand-Painted Wedding Shop Invitations! This brand new Butterfly Wedding invitation is inspired by one of the most beautiful creatures in nature, the butterfly.

I was surprised to notice that there aren’t many butterfly wedding invitations on the market right now, so I’m excited to offer this unique option for couples getting married in the spring, summer, or maybe even the early fall season. This design features an elegant calligraphy font along with a modern, classic headline font. This butterfly has a beautiful jewel toned color palette and is on top of a simple yellow and orange flower branch.

I am often inspired by nature for wedding invitations because there is so much untouched and pure beauty in nature. The butterfly in particular is an animal that flutters in such a pure way that attracts even the most distracted attention to it. The Butterfly Wedding Invitation is down-to-earth with a calm, pretty nature to it.

A special Friday treat for you…a bridal portrait illustration fitting for a purple, vintage wedding. This bridal illustration is inspired by the Vintage Purple Feather Invitation in the Hand-Painted Weddings Shop.

This pursed lips bride is all about the accessories, while wearing a simple (and comfortable) drop waist wedding dress. I was definitely inspired by Daisy from Great Gatsby with this illustration, I have to admit. I just love the blonde bob haircut along with the large, pink hair fascinator, which matches the bride’s belt and shoes peeping out from under her dress.

I think a vintage wedding is a lot of fun! There are loads of inspiration in doing an era themed wedding. And let’s admit it, there is something surreal about your wedding day, so why not conjure up another decade for your theme and be playful. One of the things I like to encourage brides to remember for their wedding is lightness. It is so easy to get bogged down with all the heavy decisions along the wedding planning process, so I try to remind couples that it is a celebration and a bit of whimsy is sometimes just the thing to get the focus back on the most important aspect of the wedding…joy.

    Have a beautiful weekend everybody!
