  • Calming yet Bold, faceted Amethyst Quartz Invitation

Amethyst Quartz Invitation by Hand-Painted Weddings

The Amethyst Quartz invitation is magical and modern at the same time. Amethyst is the birthstone for February, so it would be perfect for a February wedding. It would also be perfect for someone who is attracted to gemstones and perhaps has proclivities towards yoga.

I don’t talk about it too much within the Hand-Painted Weddings capacity, but I have some unique hobbies. I have a daily yoga practice, which for me is more than a physical practice, but is also my spiritual base. Branching out from my spiritual study of yoga, I study the ancient art of Ayurveda, and also collect gemstones.

Gemstones have been studied to have mystical and magical powers. Similar to the study of aromatherapy, the Amethyst is said to have a calming effect like lavender. I have two lavender invitations (1, 2) in the Hand-Painted Wedding invitations shop because I believe in having a sense of calm on your wedding day which allows all of your senses to take in the enormity of the event. The Amethyst Quartz invitation has the same calm meaning as the lavender invitations, but is more unique and much more bold. Perfect for a yoga wedding or spiritual wedding, this purple watercolor gemstone invitation is a beautiful way to introduce your guests to the calm, bold event to follow.

I also have seen a surge in bohemian weddings lately, and I think that the Amethyst Quartz Invitation would be a perfect touch to a bohemian wedding as well.

  • Vintage Purple Feather Bride Portrait

Vintage Purple Feather Bride painted by Hand-Painted Weddings

A special Friday treat for you…a bridal portrait illustration fitting for a purple, vintage wedding. This bridal illustration is inspired by the Vintage Purple Feather Invitation in the Hand-Painted Weddings Shop.

This pursed lips bride is all about the accessories, while wearing a simple (and comfortable) drop waist wedding dress. I was definitely inspired by Daisy from Great Gatsby with this illustration, I have to admit. I just love the blonde bob haircut along with the large, pink hair fascinator, which matches the bride’s belt and shoes peeping out from under her dress.

I think a vintage wedding is a lot of fun! There are loads of inspiration in doing an era themed wedding. And let’s admit it, there is something surreal about your wedding day, so why not conjure up another decade for your theme and be playful. One of the things I like to encourage brides to remember for their wedding is lightness. It is so easy to get bogged down with all the heavy decisions along the wedding planning process, so I try to remind couples that it is a celebration and a bit of whimsy is sometimes just the thing to get the focus back on the most important aspect of the wedding…joy.

    Have a beautiful weekend everybody!

  • Vintage Purple Feather Inspiration

I’m excited to share with you this pretty, soft purple wedding inspiration board with touches of vintage glamour inspired by the Vintage Purple Feather Invitation by Hand-Painted Weddings.

What is so unique about this inspiration board is its soft take on the vintage Art Deco theme. Oftentimes this vintage wedding theme’s sister theme, “the Great Gatsby wedding” is full of high contrasted white and black combinations with geometric Art Deco patterns and strong edges. This inspiration is very different than that aesthetic. It is feminine and whimsical and flows with the grace inspired by the delicate ostrich feathers. A neutral palette along with a heavy amount of lilac or lavender details also set this vintage wedding inspiration apart. I love how the wisteria (photo top right) and the purple feathers work together in this wedding inspiration board.

Soft feathers are so easy to intermingle into the design elements of your wedding. They look lovely in hair fascinators, as accents in a belt or band, and as accents on a small purse or clutch. They bring a unique touch to centerpieces and bouquets amongst flowers as well as a cake topper.
