  • In the Studio: Julia and Dan’s Thank You cards

Thank You Card by Hand-Painted Weddings

To finish up the week, I’d like to share with you Julia and Dan’s Hand-Painted Thank you cards. Here I brought the deck element from the invitations and added a personal touch by painting an illustration of Julia and Dan playfully lifting up their dress and pants to show off their shoes and socks! The casual style of hand-lettering continues onto the Thank you cards. If you are curious, the back of this folded card is a beautiful green wash with the Thank you text repeated on the bottom right corner.

Once again I’d like to thank the beautiful couple, Julia and Dan, for being awesome and letting me design their custom invitation package. I’d also like to thank Chrissy from Truly You Events for all of her help in creating a beautiful laid-back vibe for this wedding. I can’t wait to work on the reception pieces next!

The Bride and Groom thank you card is now available in the Hand-Painted Weddings Thank You Card shop.

  • A Small Tribute to a Great Man

    Hand-Painted Weddings

Here’s another personal wedding photo I’d like to share with you. This one is very dear to my heart, especially now that my dear grandfather has passed on. I love this man very much. He was a very light-hearted, smart, tenacious man who I like to think I got a little bit of my entrepreneurial spirit from. He started a travel business in Philadelphia; it was one of the first companies to push vacations in Jamaica. He’d always brighten up when talking about Jamaica, or about his stays in Italy. I’m very lucky to call him my grandpa.

Thank you for your patience these last couple of days as my family works through this transition. Warm regards, Allison

  • Hand-Painted Invitation: Lemon Yellow

Lemon Yellow Invitation by Hand-Painted Weddings

The Hand-Painted Lemon Yellow Invitation is inspired by the Buddha’s Hand fruit. It is bright yellow like a lemon, but has geometric shapes that represent the fingers of this unique fruit. This invitation would be great in conjunction with a lemon themed wedding, or any sunny summer wedding.

I also love how the watercolor shapes in this invitation resemble a stained glass window with the white borders looking like the grout between the panes of glass. More specifically it reminds me of the stained glass at the Sagrada Familia in Barcelona, Spain. For those of you who don’t know, the Sagrada Familia is a cathedral designed by the artist Gaudi in a very gothic style. It is one of the most unique cathedrals! I visited the cathedral about 9 years ago, and have very vivid memories of strawberries and other fruit used in the sculptures, and I remembered how bright and beautiful the stained glass was!

This invitation beautifully bridges a modern and more traditional aesthetic with its mix of geometric shapes, soft watercolor splashes and hand-painted lettering.

The Hand-Painted Lemon invitation is now available under the Invitations Shop.
